BlueGPS Alpha Release (5/1/06)
BlueGPS enables users with Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and supported Bluetooth GPS receivers to view location information on their phone. Many features are planned in the coming weeks and if you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me (dennis at db75 dot com). This alpha release is mainly to get users familiar with the app and work out any existing bugs before the beta release.
My ultimate goal here is to enable users in the mobile community to help craft an application that is useful for all Windows Mobile users. All sorts of sensor information can be retrieved from the phone and displayed remotely using Google Maps. You can see a basic example here. I'd like to create a social aspect of the application where you can "geotag" anything, anywhere, anytime. Think of having the ability to tag a local gas station that has the cheapest gas prices in town. The list goes on and on.
BlueGPS has been successfully tested on Cingular 8125 and T-Mobile MDA devices. If you have success with any other Windows Mobile devices then please contact me so I can add them to the list!
I hope you enjoy and please contact me if you have any questions, suggestions, bugs, etc (dennis at db75 dot com). If you're looking for the Symbian version of BlueGPS then click here.
